AAC PAGES — ADD A PAGE OR A SET TO TOUCHCHAT

BOARD SIZE
48-choice teen boards use 8 columns and 7 rows including Home and Clear.
36-choice boards combine related choices for ages 5–18. Smaller 16-choice boards remain available. The expanded single-page files use 6 columns and 7 rows including Home and Clear. Sets also have an Activities button.

There are THREE parts. Importing the file does not automatically add a button to your child’s usual pages.

1. IMPORT AND TRY
Download the .ce file in Safari on the iPad. Find it in Files > Downloads and open it in TouchChat. Import and save with a new name.
If needed: TouchChat > Vocab > Choose New Vocab > Menu > Import/Export Vocab > Import from files.
Open the imported vocabulary and check its pictures, words and buttons.

2. COPY INTO YOUR CHILD’S VOCABULARY
Make a copy first: Vocab > Choose New Vocab > Menu > Copy a Vocab. Choose your child’s usual vocabulary and save a copy with a clear name.
Open that copy. Menu > Edit Page > Menu > Import/Copy Pages > Import Another Page.
Choose the imported file. Select its activity page, or ALL pages including ALL menus for a set. Tap Import, then Done.

3. CREATE THE BUTTON — REQUIRED
In your child’s copy, go to a familiar page with an unused button.
Menu > Edit Page > tap the unused button > Create New Button (or Edit This Button).
Name it, for example Holidays. Under Button Actions, tap Add > Navigate.
Choose NAVIGATE, not Jump to Page or Visit. If either is already listed, remove it and replace it with Navigate.
Select the copied activity page, or the set’s MAIN MENU page (the download listing gives its exact name).
Choose No Animation > Save > Done.
Tap your new button and press two or three word buttons. The activity should stay open after each one speaks.

IF IT GOES HOME AFTER ONE WORD
Edit the button that OPENS the activity in your child’s vocabulary:
Menu > Edit Page > tap the opening button > Edit This Button > Button Actions.
Replace Jump to Page or Visit with Navigate. Select the copied page or set menu. No Animation > Save > Done.
If it still returns, add Cancel Visit BEFORE Navigate on that opening button, then save and try again. An earlier Visit can remain active. You do not need to edit every word button.

IN A SET
Activities returns to the set menu. Clear empties the message bar.
Home returns to the current vocabulary’s home page. It cannot switch between separate vocabularies.
If Home stays on the new set, open your child’s copied vocabulary through Vocab > Choose New Vocab, then use the button you created there.

Grouped files have passed structural checks; their navigation still needs real TouchChat testing. Try one set in the copy first. Keep the original vocabulary available.
Choose celebrations and words that fit your family. Not everyone celebrates the same events.

BUILDING SENTENCES
Word buttons should speak AND add words to the message bar. Tap the message bar to speak your sentence. Clear empties it.
If an older page speaks without adding words, download the corrected file. Pages already copied into your child’s vocabulary do not update automatically. An existing word button can be edited: replace Speak Message Only with Speech Message.
If words appear then disappear, check Menu > Settings > Speak > Auto Clear. Off keeps words until you clear them.

ONE DOWNLOAD FOR A WHOLE GROUP
Every page has a matching group download. Choose Download set, or browse Page sets and expand See all activities.
The .ce file already contains the group menu and its activity pages. Import once, copy ALL pages including menus into your child’s vocabulary, then create ONE Navigate button to the main menu shown on the website.
This does not automatically merge or replace your child’s vocabulary. You can also open the imported group by itself to try it first.

UPDATED WORDS AND PICTURES
Download a fresh page or group for the latest pictures. Previously copied TouchChat pages do not update automatically. Try the new download separately before copying it into your child’s vocabulary.
A small eye means looking/noticing, a heart means liking, and a question mark means asking about the pictured object. Coin pictures show values; use real coins alongside them for recognition.
